welcome to mayfield: day 3

[Those who wake up in the town on the third day will soon notice that something's definitely off. The cracks in the sky are appearing more frequently and lasting for minutes at a time, and there's a strange white fog drifting over the clouds.

For those who've just arrived, welcome to our new little town! We're sure you're glad to see your missing friends again; nothing to worry about here, they've just been too busy enjoying the upgraded carnival to go back home. Any bleeding limbs or serious wounds you may spot are obviously just a sign of how much fun they've been having.]

[after finally emerging from the fun house and getting over the initial shock of the changed appearance of the carnival, Rin has been wandering around the carnival, doing this:]

Len~? ♪

Leeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen? ♪

Len!!! ♪

[... and her search has brought her to the ferris wheel. Her calls silence momentarily, as she looks up in contemplation. If she went up there, could she spot Len? But there's all that fog hanging down...]

Hmm.... maybe I can see through it. ♪

[Rin approaches the wheel cautiously, looking up at it. It sure is creepy, though.]

[Right, it's been a long enough wait to go into this place. The fact that it's the only house with a proper house number tells Jenny quiet a bit about the place. She's not afraid of what's inside, it could be anything, but as long as it's got energy running through it she can easily make short work of it.

Seeing an already broken window she makes her way inside and drops into a low crouch, listening for anything suspicious.]

House 3

[Listening to a phone.]

....I think someone's screaming.

[That gets a small smile out of her.]

Naturally. What I meant, however... [she stops momentarily, to tie her skirt in a knot and hop down into the tunnel water, a small orb of light drifting off of her finger and into the darkness.] ...do you believe the town acted in your "absence" so to speak? You were the one who dismantled a few of these boats yesterday, were you not?

[Ooooh, jewellery! Zidane wonders if he could take some himself.

Except he stops for a moment. It sounds too good to be true - why have expensive-looking stones at a carnival? Hmmm...]

[Besides... everything. Things have been getting very strange here]

[Hol Horse had been wary about everything. Even more so now that he was attacked in this place. He had taken note of his surroundings and glanced up at the ferris wheel as he passed it by.

A pause.

Casting a glance to the left, and then to the right... he decided he would have a try at this thing. Sitting down in a seat, he figured nothing bad could happen.]

[Rapunzel's been exploring the house, too, as it happens, and jumps a bit at Harley's voice before peering into the room, concerned.]

Do you think it's someone in one of the other houses? Are the phones working?

No they're just ...static an'...really faint screaming.

[Holds the phone out to her.]

[Rapunzel shakes her head.]

I'd rather not. In case it gets louder, I mean... I... Kind of went deaf yesterday.

You should be careful, too.

I'd have believed it if you told me you had broke the entire fleet on accident. [despite the deadpan look and tone, he's just teasing! mostly...]

Do you think that has any significant meaning? The boats, I mean. Some of the damage I did yesterday has stayed that way as well, but I don't think it was made worse overnight.

[Puts the phone back on the hook.]

[Kariya wakes up in the morning only to roll over and discover that the bag of jewels and stuffed animals he'd taken from the prize stalls on the first day is missing. Grumbling to himself, he gets up and starts pacing around searching for it. He's full enough on filtered rat blood and rat meat that he can safely treat souvenirs for Rin and Sakura as his first priority, at least for the moment.]

[Henry has been trying to sleepin the church, using a sweater as a pillow. He's way too restless though to sleep. With all the scary stuff that's been happening, even he's a little discouraged.

Hearing the sound of singing, Henry perks up. Looking towards a certain golden haired girl, he grabs his bag and sweater and walks over to her.]

Rapunzel? Are you awake?

[how long has Once-ler been sitting there? long enough. they're both running on fumes at this point, and it's only a matter of time before that gives way, too. let it be said that marshmallows are a wonderful means of tiding yourself over until you're able to get real food into your belly, but as an indefinite food source, they just don't cut it. he knows if he had the chance to rip through a bag by himself it would be enough to fill him up for at least half a day, but he doesn't have that luxury. he has someone else depending on him, too.

he's humming along with Rapunzel, tuneless and distant, one hand draped over her shoulder. it's a meaningless gesture to him; he doesn't even realize that he's running his fingers through her hair, letting his dirty nails skate over soft, golden strands.

he just wishes he could fall asleep, but it's so hard.]

House 3

Geez! What was that screaming just now?! [Still holding the phone....was that one of his friends through the phone? Maybe he should speak through the mouthpiece and find out..]

[She starts, clearly panicked for a good, long moment before she finally realizes that it's okay, it's just Henry, at which point she smiles sheepishly.]

Well... I am now. I didn't know you were here... Are you okay? I mean, no, I don't think anyone is okay here-- But have you been hurt?

[Well Henry is going to see this and run over.]

NO DON'T TOUCH IT!

[After what happened to his backpack and that action figure, he's pretty sure bad stuff is going to happen if someone is holding it.]

[Cade's been camped out in the church for a little bit. He see's Rapunzel and comes over.]

"You okay, blondie?"

[Koharu just woke up from a restless sleep a few minutes ago, the pain radiating through her arm, but she stays curled up in a corner of the church, sipping her water slowly. She still hasn't really ate any of her supplies, preferring to pass them out to her friends and anyone in need. But she has gotten quite thirsty]

...Milk? [She blinks and sits up from her corner slowly]

[Kariya comes running over, having been in the middle of searching around the church area himself.]

Hakuno! What happened?

[Yes, Hol, it's that voice from before. Well, the woman attached to the voice. She's eerie looking, and wide-eyed, and concerned-looking despite the poker face she's giving you.]

Are you sure?

[And here's someone who just walked into the house to explore it some more and blinks over at Harley.]

... On the phone?

I went into a room in one of the houses... [She suppresses a shudder and decides not to get into the blood on the wall. Not yet, at least.]

There was... A really loud scream. My ears were bleeding and then I couldn't hear.

Dunno. If things we do are being replicated, multiplied, the whole carnival might end up being destroyed before we can escape back into town.
