welcome to mayfield: day 1

[As you step out of the funhouse, blinking against the strong sunlight, it may seem at first that you've wound up back where you started. The carnival with all of its joys and wonders still stands, the Ferris Wheel looming majestically over Mayfield...
...except, did it always look that new and shiny? And it's not the only thing that got a makeover either; it seems like everything in the carnival has been fixed up from its previously rundown state. Fresh coats of paint gleam from every stand and every ride, and there isn't a spot of rust or a broken board anywhere in sight. At the entrance of the carnival hangs a large banner that reads:
Just how long were you exploring the funhouse for, anyway?
And as you start taking in the changes, you may notice one other minor difference: there are no drones to be found anywhere. It seems like the only other living beings in this place are your fellow townspeople who also entered the funhouse...well, that and the large, vicious looking rats that scurry around from place to place. But don't worry, there aren't that many of them and they only come out at night! So go ahead and enjoy having the carnival all to yourselves; after all, with all those minor safety issues fixed up, what could possibly go wrong?
The back exit of the carnival leads to a small street with four standard Mayfield houses and its church at the end. Attempting to leave the carnival via the entrance (although we can't imagine why you would) will only wind up looping you to the end of this street. Where the rest of Mayfield has gone, well...who can say?]
OOC and extra information about this town can be found here - please read it before you start tagging! Remember, only those in the first group should be in this post!

Who are you?
no subject
[ He looks down at Kariya. ]
What is your name, Ser?
no subject
...Kariya, second son of the House of Matou.
[Because if he's talking to a Servant, why even bother concealing his identity.]
no subject
You are related to Sakura, then?
[ And thus Rin presumably as well. ]
no subject
What do you know about Sakura?
[His tone is sharp and quite severe, even though he's easily dwarfed by the larger man. Garviel could snap Kariya like a twig were he so inclined.]

[ He seems unmoved, phlegmatic, even. This is Loken at his best, in a possibly hostile situation surrounded with unknowns. No time for emotions or concerns, just introducing himself to someone he's already decided to safeguard with his life. ]

[Kariya grits his teeth, hands clenching into fists at his sides.]
Tell me, what do you know about the Holy Grail War? You must know about it if you're friends with those girls.

I've fought them before. They are significant opponents physically and with their sorcery, though of course Astartes like myself have the edge in about thirty Millenia worth of tactical and strategic advancement. Not to mention wargear.... [ He looks pointedly at his bolter for a moment. ]
I should explain, I think. I'm from what you or Sakura would term as the far future, after humanity has manage to extricate itself from Terra for the second time. It was a golden age. [ Was. Stupid Daddy Horus. ]

...Yeah, she's pretty popular.
[His own Servant can't keep his damn eyes off her. It makes it really inconvenient to fight the targets he's actually aiming for in battle.]
So you're an alien from the future with cybernetic weapons and armor. I think I can more or less understand that.

A Xeno? Hardly. I'm human... well, posthuman, really. I was enhanced and altered into the form you see at present. I'm just not a human from Terra, I was from Cthonia.

[ He will reach out an armored hand to gently pat Kariya's shoulder, a reassuring gesture, with an obvious effort not to seem condescending. Trying to seem like a policeman comforting a civilian, rather than a demigod of war with a human. ]
no subject
All right, then. Thank you, Garviel.

[ He smiles, and will follow Kariya throughout the rest of the day. ]
