welcome to mayfield: day 1

[As you step out of the funhouse, blinking against the strong sunlight, it may seem at first that you've wound up back where you started. The carnival with all of its joys and wonders still stands, the Ferris Wheel looming majestically over Mayfield...

...except, did it always look that new and shiny? And it's not the only thing that got a makeover either; it seems like everything in the carnival has been fixed up from its previously rundown state. Fresh coats of paint gleam from every stand and every ride, and there isn't a spot of rust or a broken board anywhere in sight. At the entrance of the carnival hangs a large banner that reads:

Welcome to Mayfield - the Happiest Town on Earth!

Just how long were you exploring the funhouse for, anyway?

And as you start taking in the changes, you may notice one other minor difference: there are no drones to be found anywhere. It seems like the only other living beings in this place are your fellow townspeople who also entered the funhouse...well, that and the large, vicious looking rats that scurry around from place to place. But don't worry, there aren't that many of them and they only come out at night! So go ahead and enjoy having the carnival all to yourselves; after all, with all those minor safety issues fixed up, what could possibly go wrong?

The back exit of the carnival leads to a small street with four standard Mayfield houses and its church at the end. Attempting to leave the carnival via the entrance (although we can't imagine why you would) will only wind up looping you to the end of this street. Where the rest of Mayfield has gone, well...who can say?]

Alright then might as well try this out.

[She'll click on the recorder.]

Hey. This is Harley Quinn, and Henry. If anyone hears this, we're at some weird version of the carnival. It's all fixed up and leads to the rest of the town but there's only, like one street. There aren't any drones here either. We're going to go look around and try to find a way out.

....um. I guess that's it.

[Clicks it off.]

Alrighty then.

[Be thankful you aren't Marvel, Harley, Henry might have freaked a little.]

You too.

[After the message is recorded, Henry looks up at Harley.]

Where do we look now?

[crazyclownwoman]

[Yay DC. The lady in the clown make up is totally sane. Don't be silly.]

Guess we should look around here more.

They changed a few things.

Yeah, all the prizes seem to be nicer than the ones back at the other carnival.

[He's looking at all the toys and such.]

....Maybe I should take one...

[For clues obviously.]

Yeah good idea.

[Looking at them as well...yeah. Clues....right.]

What do you want?

[He's going to reach up and take an action figure off the wall.]

I'll take this.

[Going to now stuff it in the outer pouch of his bag.]

[crazyclownwoman]

[She'll nod and take a stuffed rabbit....and also a necklace. Putting the later in her pocket and the former in her bag.]

So, we might as well look around then.

Yeah, that's the reason why we all went in.

[Henry's going to start to look around the games stall, might as well check every corner right?]

Yeah. Sure hope we don't regret that.

[Poking around as well.]

How long have you been stuck in town? I don't think I've seen you around before.

Same...

[He's prepared for any eventuality though.]

I've been here for about a little over a month now. What about you?

[crazyclownwoman]

Three years this July!

[theboywiththebook]

That's...a long time.

[He definitely doesn't want to be stuck here for three years.]

Yup. I think I'm one of the longest here now.

[Not pleased with that either.]

Well, maybe we'll find a way home this time.

[Hopeful as ever.]

I'll settle for finding anything out.

[Looking through some teddy bears. Yeah...hope fades after a while.]

[Sorry, Harley what was that? Henry is never going to give up.]

I wonder if there's stuff inside these prizes.

Only one way to find out!

[Grabs a stuffed bunny and rips its head off.]

.....nope.

[theboywiththebook]

[Well that's how you do it I guess.

Henry's going to pluck a piggy bank prize off the counter and open up the bottom.]
