day 5

[The fifth day doesn't dawn at all. In fact, the sky simply isn't there anymore; the only thing visible if you look up is pure black nothing. Most of the carnival itself is no longer visible, having been blanketed by thick white fog; any attempt to enter said fog will result in your body rapidly disintegrating. The street at least still seems to be intact, but with no way out and the fog slowly creeping in, who knows how long that'll last?
Luckily, it seems like the cavalry has finally arrived.]
(OOC: This marks the last day of the event! Anyone who has won a prize from Mayfield's carnival will be able to access both Mayfield and this area through the funhouse, and will be able to take one person with them on each trip they make. If your character is not rescued by the end of the day, they will be disintegrated by the fog and will wake up the next morning in Mayfield with the standard revival effects. You are free to comment in this post regardless of whether your character signed up for the event.)

We will...but not like this, Luke. Please...we can still make it if we leave now.

[He lifts his fingerless hand, still wrapped in bloodied bandages. But he's interrupted by the sound of the wall being ripped away, and Luke looks back to see the void quickly approaching. He'll turn back with his expression serious.]
Please go, miss Kreuzer! Just go now! I'll see you back in Mayfield, I promise!

(That lump in her throat was only getting bigger. She held her hands to her chest as she very hesitantly took a step backwards.)
I-I can't leave you here...

[It's hard to shout over the roaring sound of the church being ripped apart.]
Please!

...but damn it all if she was going to let him die. What kind of teacher would she be if she left her student to die? She cared too much for Luke to leave him behind, so despite her fatigue and the incoming void, Kreutzer rushes for him and grabs hold of his legs; she didn't have the strength to carry him herself, but she would put everything she had to at least drag him out of the building. She couldn't leave him...she'd rather die with him than leave him behind.)

Miss Kreutzer! Miss Kreutzer, what are you doing!
[Don't waste your life on him just go!]

(Nope; she's not listening. It's part of that whole focus thing she has going on for her, so with the boost of adrenaline, she manages to pull him out of the church before it gets completely sucked up into the void. She seems pretty fine with the idea of dragging Luke all the way to the funhouse if it meant he would survive, so that's the plan she's going with.)

[And right as the church is devoured, they make it outside. Luke watches in shocked horror as the building is ripped away.]

(She's still going to pull him along , hellbent on ensuring his safety. She doesn't care that she should put all of her strength into just pulling; she has to say her piece.)
I'll be honest with you, Luke...there was a time when I chose death as the answer to my problems. I thought it would put an end to everything...but it didn't. That's not how it works. Living might be pointless in Mayfield, but so is dying! You can't give up on life, Luke; you have to fight fate. If I can find reasons to live...then you can, too!
