day 5

[The fifth day doesn't dawn at all. In fact, the sky simply isn't there anymore; the only thing visible if you look up is pure black nothing. Most of the carnival itself is no longer visible, having been blanketed by thick white fog; any attempt to enter said fog will result in your body rapidly disintegrating. The street at least still seems to be intact, but with no way out and the fog slowly creeping in, who knows how long that'll last?

Luckily, it seems like the cavalry has finally arrived.]

(OOC: This marks the last day of the event! Anyone who has won a prize from Mayfield's carnival will be able to access both Mayfield and this area through the funhouse, and will be able to take one person with them on each trip they make. If your character is not rescued by the end of the day, they will be disintegrated by the fog and will wake up the next morning in Mayfield with the standard revival effects. You are free to comment in this post regardless of whether your character signed up for the event.)

[for the first time in days, he starts to smile. the only thing he's trying to choke back now is laughter.]

I could...heheh, I could drink twenty milkshakes! Maybe I will. I've always wanted to hold a world record!

[his heart is thudthudthudding away in his chest like mad, and he's not sure what to make of it. feeling it do such a thing when he's happy isn't what he's grown accustomed to over the last five days. at first it's a little scary, but then it goes right back to being funny again, even when Lucas changes the subject.]

Noooo. It was written on the wall in one of the houses. 'Punzel found it and the house got mad and made our ears explode. [it's scary how bluntly he says that.] What are you talking about?

We found a newspaper. ...It read like a joke, but... I'm not sure. It might be serious.

A woman named Lucille Bell went missing, apparently. No one was sure if she was killed or if she just... vanished. I think it might have to do with why Zemekis is pretending to be a little girl named Lucy, but it's just... all really strange.

[a beat]

A-Ah, but there'll be a lot of time to talk about that when we're all safely back! Are you ready to go for that world record, Mr. Once-ler?
