day 5

[The fifth day doesn't dawn at all. In fact, the sky simply isn't there anymore; the only thing visible if you look up is pure black nothing. Most of the carnival itself is no longer visible, having been blanketed by thick white fog; any attempt to enter said fog will result in your body rapidly disintegrating. The street at least still seems to be intact, but with no way out and the fog slowly creeping in, who knows how long that'll last?
Luckily, it seems like the cavalry has finally arrived.]
(OOC: This marks the last day of the event! Anyone who has won a prize from Mayfield's carnival will be able to access both Mayfield and this area through the funhouse, and will be able to take one person with them on each trip they make. If your character is not rescued by the end of the day, they will be disintegrated by the fog and will wake up the next morning in Mayfield with the standard revival effects. You are free to comment in this post regardless of whether your character signed up for the event.)

Hey... [Subconsciously, he hides his missing hand by holding that arm close and keeping the stump under his jacket, as if he's holding something there on the inside of it, and then he steps in after Slugger.] What are you doing in here?
no subject
Nothing. What are you doing?

[spoken without hesitation and delivered with a grin. At this point he doesn't care what happens to him anymore if they're all just going to be swallowed up by a bunch of nothing. Unlike Caesar and most of the humans trapped in this alternate Mayfield, Slugger doesn't look the least bit affected appearance-wise.]
Found anything yet?
no subject
[Well good for him. Caesar will attempt to not feel jealous of the weird inhuman monster child. He lets out a 'hmph' and looks around the room they're in.]
No, nothing at all. I was trying to stay out of any further trouble in the church, but then the sky ate it, so now I'm here.
no subject
I saw. It'll probably happen here soon. I wanted to see if there was something here before it does.

And a sound of crumpling gutters, shrieking wood and shingles and nails being pulled out of both as whatever made that thumping sound attempted to pry the roof of the house open like the lid of a toybox.]

Caesar pushes himself away from the door jamb and looks towards the wall where all the noise is coming from.]
Hold on... Is something trying to get in?
[That thought alone keeps him from fleeing the house right there and then. Whatever is trying to get in is already out there.]
no subject
[The Thing Trying To Get Inside sounds triumphant! And pulls the side of the roof as far as her arms can reach and oh look it's that big bird.]
Hello!
[There's one of those cheap carnival necklaces around her neck, but her appearance is otherwise unchanged.]
no subject
After a beat, he takes another step toward Caesar and leans slightly toward him with a whispered inquiry...]
Who is that?
no subject
A crazy bird from Mayfield. [He relaxes now that it's apparent who it is, even if that damn bird is still kind of dangerous.] Utsuho! What are you doing? Get down from there!
no subject
What? No, I'm supposed to get you out!
[The hellraven looks at this other person(...?) she didn't recognize for a moment.]
Who's that?
[The glowering orange-red flaming grapefruit-sized thing that was actually eye in her chest seems to take more interest in Slugger, though, with the slit pupil drifting over in his direction. There's a sense of being watched, but nothing more.]

[He spares a second to glance towards Slugger, then back again.]
He's an ally, not an enemy. Try not to blast him or anything. I'd never heard the end of it if you did.
no subject
[And called the hellraven taxi.
The eye in Okuu's chest does eventually lose interest, the pupil drifting back to the center in an idle pose.
The host body's feathers puff up almost indignantly at the rest of Caesar's words, though.]
Virginia didn't tell me to do that! Or Enkidu.
no subject
[One would think he'd be more interested in a possible escape but Slugger happens to be very skeptical about the rip between the towns being a two-way deal. It's almost as if he doesn't even care anymore, still waiting for the worst to come.]
no subject
[Even though he's clearly unsteady enough standing there that he opts to lean against the doorjamb again.]
If you flew through the fog, it would be over for us.
no subject
[Well, sort of.]
It would be faster if I carried you.
[She lifts her wings up and off the walls where she was resting them, to stretch.]
no subject
She's right. You look like you're dying.

[And she hops down off of the wall without further notice, landing on the coffee table with a thump and in a crouch--and was still probably the tallest one in the room. Wings are cheating.
...as is the way she kind of just reaches over to pick Caesar up by the collar of his jacket in an almost effortless way.]
no subject
What happened? [Something horrible, no doubt. He wonders if Caesar lost an arm or a hand the same way Luke lost his fingers.]
no subject
[And now Caesar is... midair? He's being held up, anyway. It's surprising enough to get him to flail a little, which is enough to reveal the arm he'd been hiding inside his jacket before.
Missing hand, definitely, though the stump has been bandaged up.]
Okay, okay, we get it, you're strong enough!
