day 5

[The fifth day doesn't dawn at all. In fact, the sky simply isn't there anymore; the only thing visible if you look up is pure black nothing. Most of the carnival itself is no longer visible, having been blanketed by thick white fog; any attempt to enter said fog will result in your body rapidly disintegrating. The street at least still seems to be intact, but with no way out and the fog slowly creeping in, who knows how long that'll last?

Luckily, it seems like the cavalry has finally arrived.]

(OOC: This marks the last day of the event! Anyone who has won a prize from Mayfield's carnival will be able to access both Mayfield and this area through the funhouse, and will be able to take one person with them on each trip they make. If your character is not rescued by the end of the day, they will be disintegrated by the fog and will wake up the next morning in Mayfield with the standard revival effects. You are free to comment in this post regardless of whether your character signed up for the event.)

[Henry's been standing in the door way of the funhouse looking in. The mirrors were all broken inside, but there wasn't anything inside. Still things were becoming desperate. People needed help. So he was going to try calling to anyone.]

Hello!? Anyone there!?

[Henry receives the clip-clopping of hooves as a response. Within moments, Lucas and his table seem to materialize out of nowhere to burst onto the scene.

He screeches to a halt.]

Henry! Keep going; there's a way back through here! At the very back, past the broken mirrors!

[Henry stops and stares as he see's Lucas...on a tea table. Okay weird. How the heck did he get that?

But upon further hearing, an expression of surprise comes to his face.]

Really? Okay! I'll see you on the other side then!

[Henry runs in....and about five minutes later he comes back to the entrance.]

Huh...but I thought...

[Lucas has already gone out back onto the streets to try and pick up any more stragglers. He doesn't see anyone, so five minutes after Henry returns, he'll gallop past the funhouse entrance again... And screech to a halt. Again.]

Just stay in Mayfield! It's safer there. You've got to keep that notebook safe; it'll be alright. I can get people through faster.

[Misinterpreting an inability to leave as heroism...]

B-But I can't! That's the problem! I went the way you told me and I just wound up back here!

[Henry's looking just as confused as Lucas here.]

How'd you manage to get back to the normal Mayfield?

[If you can call that normal.]

[A pause. That man hadn't been able to see it, either. Lucas will make up his mind quickly. Seconds were precious here.]

Get on, Henry.

[He'll reach down to help the boy clamber up behind him.]

[Henry takes Lucas's hand and pulls himself up onto the table.]

What's going on here? How come I couldn't find the exit...?

I don't know, but you're not the first one. It's alright. I'll just take you each through myself. As long as one of us can see it, it's OK.

[...There's an oddly warm feeling coming from his pocket. Lucas will straighten up a little and begin to dig around.]

I just hope everyone can get out than....this whole town is falling apart.

[Henry is going to clutch his back pack. Like Lucas said, his notebook was important right now. It needed to make it back safely.]

I'll bring everyone back here myself if I have to. It's going to be OK. We'll make it.

[Lucas finishes scrounging in his pockets and removes one (1) used paddleball. ...How did that get in there? How did it even fit?]

[He really does.

But he curiously looks at the Paddleball toy.]

I won this back in Mayfield. Five or six days ago. I brought it with me here, but I threw it away the first day.

I'm not sure where it came from...

...When did you start seeing the way out? Was it the same time that you got that back?

[Because Henry is putting two and two together to get, MAGIC!]

Yeah, things are getting worse here. At this rate everyone's going to get swallowed up by those holes popping up or worse....

I was hoping there would be an exit.

Maybe there will be. This would seem to be the place, since it hasn't been ripped open by those rifts yet.

But how are we going to get back? I've gone in five times now and I keep winding back at the entrance.

I don't know, but there has to be a way other than dying here.

That's the last thing anyone wants to do...even if there's a chance we'll come back...I...

[He doesn't really want to say it. Thinking about the possibility of dying here is not a fun thought.]

Good. Maybe we should investigate inside. We might be able to find something.

Looks like it's all we can do right now.

[Turning on his flash light, Henry steps inside looking around.

As he steps further in he hears crunches under his feet. Shining his light down there is a bunch of mirror glass on the floor.]

Looks like it got smashed up in here!

Was that from one of us, or from those clowns?

Either way, it means a shortcut to the main part of the Funhouse.

Those clowns were here too?

[Not the point.]

If so, lets go look.

[He's just walking in further now.]

I'm not sure. I heard something was in here attacking people, though. Do you have your gun ready?

[He has it raised and everything. Problem is, only a few bullets left. Shining his flashlight he steps in deeper.]
