welcome to mayfield: day 3

[Those who wake up in the town on the third day will soon notice that something's definitely off. The cracks in the sky are appearing more frequently and lasting for minutes at a time, and there's a strange white fog drifting over the clouds.

For those who've just arrived, welcome to our new little town! We're sure you're glad to see your missing friends again; nothing to worry about here, they've just been too busy enjoying the upgraded carnival to go back home. Any bleeding limbs or serious wounds you may spot are obviously just a sign of how much fun they've been having.]

OOC: If your character damages or affects the carnival or town in a noticeable and normally permanent way, please comment here.

[he watches her in silence for a moment, eying the areas she hits and staying on subtle guard in case her violence increases. for all intents and purposes though, he looks completely at ease sloped over the window as he is.]

If it makes you feel any better about your own comparative limitations, I'm not a vampire, and I'm certain you'll find yourself free to enter this place as well. There's nothing inside here indicative of a church, you know.
spitefulvitae: (Oh no no no)

...

[Not a vampire. What?]

Then what the hell are you?! [This isn't really doing much to calm her down.] It's not that it's a church, it's that the blasted nun-priestess-warrior-hunter woman did something to it. And I can't go in.

[whoops he can see that. not that it was his goal to begin with, since he's a horrible instigator, but he doesn't exactly feel like getting into a kerfuffle right now, either.]

I'm a Chiropteran. There's nothing supernatural about me, I'm simply part of a hematophagous species outside of the human race. So while I prefer more elegant terms than "blood-sucking", you at least got the first two claims correct. [a pause] ...Ciel? The woman with short, blue hair? If you'd like to come inside, I can ask her to remove the barrier for you.
spitefulvitae: (Distrust)

Oh. Well then. Good for you.

[NOPE. Still not impressed.]

Is there anything worth seeing in there? If not, leave the barrier up. If it gives protection to everyone else, fine. I'm better off than most here.

[you know that smug, irritating 'yeah I know right??' shrug that some people do when they're purposely missing sarcasm? guess who's doing it right now...

he waves a hand at her question, stepping aside from the window to allow her a clearer view.]

There isn't anything in here that hasn't been brought in by people, unless they town is hiding something beneath the floorboards. [...now he's looking at the floor contemplatively whoops] Which they could very well be doing, I suppose. Hm.

[She can handle smug. She has high defenses against smug. You need to when you travel in Kindred circles.]

If you want to go tearing up floorboards, be my guest.

If they haven't found anything of interest beneath the floorboards of the houses, it isn't imperative to look under these just yet, either. [but his curiosity has been sparked so he'll probably pry a few boards up later anyway. clearly investigating is more important than respecting the only safehouse!]

My prerogative isn't to play detective here. Ah, but I don't believe you ever told me what you're doing.
spitefulvitae: (Absent stare)

[personal profile] spitefulvitae 2012-07-04 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
[She shrugs, making a show of not caring a whit about what may or may not be happening in the world of floorboards.]

I'm looking for anyone that I might know. So far, I've seen a few. I'm also watching out for rats.

[the poor, neglected floorboards...! he clicks his tongue and glances back into the church itself for a moment, falling back to the flats of his feet.]

Well, you're in a good place for both. If you can sit on the front porch, it seems rats avoid that area as much as they avoid the interior of the place. Most of the people here return at night as well, and anyone who isn't here right now are likely at the houses.

I'm hesitant to take my chances with the front porch. For the purpose of these things, porches generally count as part of a metaphysical structure...

[She sighs.]

I'll have to make another pass by the houses, then.

[his brow furrows momentarily, and a look of curiosity replaces his somewhat apathetic stare.]

Do they offer much shelter?
spitefulvitae: (Yes?)

[personal profile] spitefulvitae 2012-07-09 05:54 am (UTC)(link)
Not as much as the church. They're not as apparently rat-proof. But if you post a guard or two, I'm sure they'd do in a pinch...

[She shrugs. Who's to really say? It's not like she's a rat expert.]
