welcome to mayfield: day 3

[Those who wake up in the town on the third day will soon notice that something's definitely off. The cracks in the sky are appearing more frequently and lasting for minutes at a time, and there's a strange white fog drifting over the clouds.

For those who've just arrived, welcome to our new little town! We're sure you're glad to see your missing friends again; nothing to worry about here, they've just been too busy enjoying the upgraded carnival to go back home. Any bleeding limbs or serious wounds you may spot are obviously just a sign of how much fun they've been having.]

OOC: If your character damages or affects the carnival or town in a noticeable and normally permanent way, please comment here.

I could, uh, catch one... maybe. [Ugh, gross. Though it does make him wonder what the rats are eating to survive. He turns his attention back to their immediate surroundings, glancing from the arrow carved into the wall then to the knife in Luke's hand.]

What are you doing in here?

I wanted to check for anything useful before I went back to the house. I haven't seen anything yet.

[tilting his head] Useful how?

I don't know. The houses are practically barren, so just about anything could be useful.

But we should probably go back now. I'm sure Mr. Nigma would want to know you're here.

I saw some broken glass in the hall of mirrors... [That could be useful, maybe. He notes Luke's statement about the houses being different but he supposes he'll see more of that soon enough. He turns to follow Luke on their way back out.]

So, is this supposed to be another Mayfield?

Broken glass might come in handy. Maybe as a weapon or something...

[And Luke starts to follow the arrows he made back to the entrance, to lead Slugger out.]

A smaller version of it anyway. Sort of like a combination of Westport and Mayfield I suppose...

Have you found any "codes"? That's what Richard said to look for.

[He rolls along at Luke's side through the winding hallways, stepping over whatever obstacles might lie in their path. As they pass the hall of mirrors, Slugger will stop to salvage a few sizable shards of glass from some broken mirrors.]

No codes yet. Although there was a flyer...

[Placing the glass in the front pocket of his hoodie, Slugger looks up and returns to Luke's side.]

Flyer? What'd it say?

At first it was just a normal advertisement for Mayfield, but at the end it mentioned something about suspended animation and reality programming.

Because Mayfield is a 'neurological simulation'. It's fake. [This is a known fact, but he feels the urge to recite it and perhaps to ground himself in what's supposedly reality.

But then he takes another look at Luke's ragged appearance with mounting uncertainty] ...Except it feels really real.

[Stepping out of the funhouse and into the daylight, Slugger takes in the bright colors of the carnival beneath a cracking, foggy sky.]
