[Those who wake up in the town on the third day will soon notice that something's definitely off. The cracks in the sky are appearing more frequently and lasting for minutes at a time, and there's a strange white fog drifting over the clouds.

For those who've just arrived, welcome to our new little town! We're sure you're glad to see your missing friends again; nothing to worry about here, they've just been too busy enjoying the upgraded carnival to go back home. Any bleeding limbs or serious wounds you may spot are obviously just a sign of how much fun they've been having.]

[Rita is pale, with big dark circles under her eyes. She doesn't feel like beating around the bush or commenting on how annoying Rin's voice continues to be.]

The rides tend to disappear every once in a while, like they're phasing out.

I mean, if you wanna become a stain on the ground, that's your deal, but like I said I don't recommend it. If the car disappears when you're up there, it's over.

[roadroller]

They disappear out from under you? ♪

[Rin considers.]

I don't think something like that would destroy me. ... But it's probably not worth it with that fog. I just want to find my twin. ♪

[a pause. She's been looking at Rita as she talks, and her appearance is kinda concerning. She is clueless, of course.]

You know, I don't think you're getting enough sleep! ♪

Oh, that's right. You're an android or whatever, so I guess you're more durable than humans are.

[Shrug.]

Sleeping is a bad idea. [She rubs up and down her arm.] Gotta be able to watch out for the rats...

Not to mention that, but the food here is...It's like it's empty. No matter how much you eat, it never feels like you've eaten anything. What water there is is putrid, too.

[This is a nightmare. Her fingers rub into her eyes.] In the next 24 hours, your life is about to get much worse.

[Oh. Rin actually doesn't need any of that to survive either, but she thinks to point that out would be tactless.]

Ah...

[but what CAN she say? She'd rather try to cheer her up.]

I brought an orange! ♪

[It's too bad that she didn't bring more snacks, but Vocaloids usually do have a few of their character item on hand. Rin smiles and offers the fruit.]

Thanks for warning me about the ferris wheel. ♪

[she adds so that it's a trade rather than charity. Pride is a big thing for her and so she assumes it's the same for other people.]

[How unusual that she's actually being read correctly for once. Almost as unusual as this girl carrying around an orange with her. And she already thought Rin was weird. She reaches out to take the orange, but quickly stops herself. It's a sweet gesture, and not one she was expecting at all. She hardly knows this girl, after all, how can she just give that away? Is she dumb?]

...Wait, are you sure? I mean, who knows how long we'll be stuck here, are you really gonna give away your only food so readily?

[A beat.]

...Hold up, you don't need to eat to keep yourself alive.
[Her eyes narrow, a little annoyed that she has to worry about this stuff while someone else doesn't.]

... not really. Is that a crime? ♪

[Cause she could just take her orange elsewhere if you're gonna act like it's a crime]

[Sigh.]

You're just lucky. Having to eat to stay alive is a pain. [And she takes the orange into her hand before the girl can change her mind.]

Rin right? [Her fingers shake as her nails dig into the skin of the orange, trying to get it open.]

[roadroller]

[Rin nods in understanding. She was human for a few months while she waited for Len to get his frame back - this body was regained just in the nick of time, it seems.]

Right, Rin Kagamine. ... Ah, I'm not sure I ever got your name. I think you were busy with the chemistry thing. ♪

[Hm, shaky hands.

She's sure the other girl can get the orange open herself though. It's just an orange.]

[After a bit more fumbling, she finally tears the skin off and pushes a wedge of the orange into her mouth. It's borderline euphoric, after two days of starving. She stops talking completely to focus on the taste of the orange.]

Ah...Ahem, it's Rita. Rita Mordio. [Or Gumshoe but she'd rather get eaten by those rats than have someone start calling her that.]

You said you were looking for your twin, yeah? [Taking another wedge, this time talking while she chews.]

I haven't seen anyone who looks like you...[Munch Munch] So either they just showed up today and are somewhere else, or they didn't show up at all. [Munch]

Lots of people got split up when they ended up here. Some people are still back in the original town, I guess.

[roadroller]

[ewww talking with your mouth full. She'll ignore it because she knows Rita's starving though. Besides, Len intel!]

So he could have ended up on the other side? That'd really suck... we were going to shake it up. ♪

[she'll lean on the fence in front of the ferris wheel.]

Maybe I'd better stay put. That way it's easier to find me. ♪

[don't judge her, she's too happy to have actual food in her mouth to think about it.]

You can stay here if you want, but there's not exactly a huge selection of places to go. There's the carnival, four houses, and the church. I don't think it'd be too difficult for him to find you.
