[Those who wake up in the town on the third day will soon notice that something's definitely off. The cracks in the sky are appearing more frequently and lasting for minutes at a time, and there's a strange white fog drifting over the clouds.

For those who've just arrived, welcome to our new little town! We're sure you're glad to see your missing friends again; nothing to worry about here, they've just been too busy enjoying the upgraded carnival to go back home. Any bleeding limbs or serious wounds you may spot are obviously just a sign of how much fun they've been having.]

[Watching Luke, he narrows an eye suspiciously.]

...Did you get bit, too?

[Luke quickly shakes his head, and then realizes what a bad idea that was when he's hit by a wave of dizziness. He waits for it to pass before he answers, rubbing his head with his good hand.]

No, I wasn't bitten by anything.

[He's still leering suspiciously but he won't prod further. Instead he turns to slowly lead the way out of the room. On the way out he'll stop to lift something.]

Got you something. [He hands Luke the steel rung from a ladder that he ripped off of a slide. It seemed like it could make a decent clubbing device.]

For hunting the rats?

[He reaches out for it - with the hand he doesn't normally use, while his injured one stays firmly in his pocket. It looks a little awkward when he tries holding it.]

That's one thing. [Self defense would be another. It's a fairly heavy steel bar. Slugger turns away again with no mention of Luke's awkward grip.]

Where'd you go?

[Luke sets the bar down for a moment.]

I went looking around the other houses. I was hoping to find more food, or some clues, but...

[He can't hide this information from Slugger.]

In one of the houses, there was a corpse tucked away in the wall.

[At that he'll pause.]

Which house?

The first house past House 501.

What else happened?

[Luke almost replies with "nothing", but...he can't. He's not going to risk Slugger's safety for stupid pride.]

Touching the walls causes your hand to dissolve.

[strike_you_out]

[He's fully facing Luke now, his partially obscured gaze flicking to Luke's pocketed hand.]

[Luke meets Slugger's gaze, before pulling out his hand. It's wrapped in bloody cloth, and there's no sign of anything resembling fingers.]

[Slugger doesn't touch it nor does he look at it for any longer than he needs to which is only briefly. His expression hardens.]

Don't go back there. Don't go anywhere without me.

I'm not going back.

[He doesn't say anything about Slugger's last comment. Luke already feels bad enough that he foolishly lost his fingers.]
