welcome to mayfield: day 2

[Day two of whatever this place is dawns bright and cheerful. Not much seems to have changed; the carnival is still standing, the town still empty of drones, the sky still bright blue and --

-- hang on, what was that? Did some sort of crack just appear in that patch of sky?

...oh, it's gone now. Must have just been your imagination. Anyway, there's no time to waste staring aimlessly at the sky, not when there's more friends showing up! Lucky there's more than enough food to go around, eh?]

OOC: If your character damages or affects the carnival or town in a noticeable and normally permanent way, please comment here.

OPEN! If your character was on the list of characters arriving on Day 1 or Day 2, they may comment here. All questions belong here.

[ An armor breach. Not good. He's still got a mission to achieve, and so, he'll head towards the mysterious dark paint on the wall, or where he thought it was located. He has information to ascertain. He does, however, draw his chainsword, and resolve quietly to do what needs to be done in order to get the maximum data for the others in the town standing against the masters of this place. ]

[ Garviel doesn't give the town the pleasure of calling out in pain, as his own body fights to dampen the agony, and he will briefly reach out, trying to touch the smeared stuff. He suspects it is blood, and with the hostiles, it is time to go. He'll do his best to limp back to a door or a window as his leg is chewed up by insects, still reserving the chainsword for his final option. ]

There is no pain, only duty.

[ Inside his helm, Garviel is momentarily bemused. The leg is gone? As in, no more insects chewing it, just vanished entirely? If so, well, that saves him from the unfortunate task of cutting it off himself. He tumbles to the ground in a huge, clanging mass, and will begin dragging himself towards the door, ready to blast it apart with his bolter ortear it down, his Astartes physique only awkwardly compensating for the loss of a load bearing limb. An arm, a hand, he could have deal with, but the leg destroys his mobility, for the most part. Best to withdraw, and warn the others. Not out of cowardice, for such an emotion has never entered his dual hearts, but rather out of a true desire to save the other people in Mayfield from a similarly horrible fate. ]

No failure, only victory. [ If the insects are chewing on the stump, he'll sever it off with the chainsword. If they are just gone, well, he'll leave the empty leg to drag with him. His armor is very rare, and leaving parts of it lying around would be beyond stupid. ]

[ Garviel moves swiftly. He switches his chainsword back to the magclamp on his back, and draws his bolter as he crawl-rolls for the door, the bolter roaring as it fires a pattern of mass-reactive rounds at it. Garviel is going for a quick opening, mostly by blowing the damn thing clean off if possible. He's going to trying to get the heck out of this house with at least one leg intact. No panic, no fear, only a cold determination to survive and bring a warning back to everyone.]
