welcome to mayfield: day 3

[Those who wake up in the town on the third day will soon notice that something's definitely off. The cracks in the sky are appearing more frequently and lasting for minutes at a time, and there's a strange white fog drifting over the clouds.

For those who've just arrived, welcome to our new little town! We're sure you're glad to see your missing friends again; nothing to worry about here, they've just been too busy enjoying the upgraded carnival to go back home. Any bleeding limbs or serious wounds you may spot are obviously just a sign of how much fun they've been having.]

OOC: If your character damages or affects the carnival or town in a noticeable and normally permanent way, please comment here.

Aha, I'm fine. Really! [The girl tries to reassure him. It's not really a lie... the wound on her upper leg is tied up, half-healed with magic, so it's not a serious injury.] It just hurts a little when I walk, that's all.

I wouldn't put it past this bloody town.

[He helps him up and over to a bench to sit down properly. He looks around and finds a rock.]

[He picks it up and it shimmers, turning into a glass of water. He offers it to the guy.]

[Well this isn't looking good, is it? Lithuania takes a step back but makes sure Poland and Latvia are still behind him.]

And you thought it was alright to leave your daughters in Mayfield by themselves? Do you realize how dangerous this place is? If we die here, we might not resurrect like we do back in Mayfield! Why did you come here!

[She reaches for him, intending on shaking some sense into the man.]

MAIN AREA

[after the horribly failed attempt to get past the mirrors on d2, Charles and Holland have decided to mosey back in to give it a second shot.

so here's Charles, being slightly less destructive and only tipping over a mirror every now and then to indicate the direction they had come from rather than trying to blaze a trail. he pauses once he comes to what appears to be the last line of mirrors, looking surprised.]

...Hm. I didn't think there would actually be an end to this.

[gezellig]

Are you sure it really is an end?

[He'd been unsuccessful, so far, in finding Lucas, if the boy was even here anymore. No sign of Belgium or Hilda either.

Still, after hearing of others being attacked, Charles was even more of a desirable person to have around. If they could keep the snarking to a minimum, they might even get along.]

[Bends down, looks and his eyes widen] Geez, how the heck...?![Well....that's one big hole. And it's definitely put him off from running off with expensive pretty things]

[Somehow, he's managed to fall asleep, curled slightly, facing one of the walls of the church, and as far away from anybody else as possible. The rest was needed.]

[She hugs the vampire close to her, careful of her injuries. Seeing them reminds her that, HEY, SHE'S KIND OF STARTING TO FRY OUT HERE, so she picks her sister up and quickly leaps over into the shade of one of the stands she hadn't demolished yet.]

Yeah, what a mess. Man...[Glancing at all the ruined boats. Then he looks further down the tunnel and says loudly to himself, not Haruhi] I wonder what's down there?

Hey, kid! [If Sue looks up, she will see a blond boy with a monkey-tail kneeling down and looking at her with concern. He takes his rucksack off.] You all right, there? You look like you could use a little help!

There are no more mirrors, at least. I don't know what else it might be. [unless it's a trap of some sort, but he's pretty sure they both understand the risks of that without him having to say anything.

he takes a tentative step past the last one and into the darkened area, waiting to see if his vision will adjust as it usually does.]

[There was another reason he wore his pharmacy coat home from work every day rather than leaving it at the store. And a reason he was wearing it now. Holland will make sure, as he already has dozens of times in the funhouse, that the revolver he bought is in the pocket, along with another box of bullets in the other pocket.

It was standard issue for him every day in Mayfield, now. And he'd been protecting them in this place; who knew if he'd need them.]

Is there a door, or a wall?

[He's not stupid enough to get on the ferris wheel, not by a long shot, but he can't stop looking at the fog snaking around the top-most cars.

What was happening here?

He glanced over to where Abel was nearby, making sure other people were safe, before turning his attention back to the fog.]

Surely the thing she wants to see most here, in this weird world, is that the tiny troll has made it through as well. Right?]

[hurt it does. Dainn crashes against the ground with a sickening thud. he's alive, but in too much pain to move.

oh god, he misses his normal body. this wouldn't have happened if he was still a shadow...]

[He'll hear a familiar, and slightly relieved voice. Holland is on his way back to the funhouse, but he'll stop to talk to Cain.]

[Only one person greets him like that, and his stomach sinks a little. Are all the people he's friends with trapped here?]

Holland... when did you get here?

Yesterday.

[The implied 'you?' is there in his expression.]

[Cain hates that nearly all his friends are here, more because he's disappointed that none of them have had the sense to stay out of the funhouse (ignoring that he didn't either).

But when he sees her, he hurries over right away. She looks pale and tired, and there's genuine worry in his eyes as he crouches down.]

Yesterday too, we spent the night in the church last night.

[Along with quite a lot of others that had that same bright idea.]
