[Those who wake up in the town on the third day will soon notice that something's definitely off. The cracks in the sky are appearing more frequently and lasting for minutes at a time, and there's a strange white fog drifting over the clouds.

For those who've just arrived, welcome to our new little town! We're sure you're glad to see your missing friends again; nothing to worry about here, they've just been too busy enjoying the upgraded carnival to go back home. Any bleeding limbs or serious wounds you may spot are obviously just a sign of how much fun they've been having.]

I have friends here who are going to get hungry. Is there anything else to eat around here?

[ Rory was here to explore the possibility of finding bedsheets to use for makeshift bandaging. Not a very lucky endeavor, but it was worth a shot. Nearly tripping over your own feet worrying someone in the vicinity is dying is perfectly priceless.

[She straightens up despite the pain in her abdomen and the nausea in her head. She cannot let Kuroneko worry over her.]

I am fine. Just...a little sick from the water. The food here is not nutritious. You would waste your energy if you ate it. If you really need food, then wait until night and I can hunt you some rats.

[She has to do this quickly, while she can still remain standing.

I've seen people living off the swarming rats that come out at night, trying to look for food themselves. The food being us that is.

This entire place is unusual. You won't have to go far.

[She's not putting that knife away. No way, no how. But she's not brandishing it at him, and that has to count for something. She's dirty and bedraggled, but hardly as wrecked as some he might have wandered across.]

[A little blackish blob stirs from a string of carnival lights at the uproar--and then darts away from the lights as the stall they were hanging from is overturned. The bat chitters shrilly and flits in panicked circles for some time after, having been able to sleep only in stressed fits and starts. She hadn't left that form once after escaping from the funhouse, feeling far too insecure. And something had dislodged her from her nominally safe spot, which made her mind explode in panic again.]

It's Mayfield. It could be poisonous, just like the milk.

[and he means it this time. he closes his eyes and the urge to keep them shut is so overwhelming it's scary, but he forces them open nonetheless after a sigh.]

[The wall opens. There's something in the wall-- a corpse. It seems to have belonged to a woman, but now it's rotten and decayed. Its face is contorted in a scream and it smells terrible.]

Hmph, that witch can rot for all I care!

[A thought comes to mind, though.]

Though the boats are destroyed, perhaps we can take down the rest of this ride! It's an amusement park ride, it's going to be shoddily built! Let's finish what the others have started!

[The Doctor approaches the window, trying to angle himself to see if he can see what's moving inside.]

... Rats come out at night? [ She frowns a bit, trying to mask her thoughts and feelings. She hasn't heard of that yet. ]
