welcome to mayfield: day 1

[As you step out of the funhouse, blinking against the strong sunlight, it may seem at first that you've wound up back where you started. The carnival with all of its joys and wonders still stands, the Ferris Wheel looming majestically over Mayfield...

...except, did it always look that new and shiny? And it's not the only thing that got a makeover either; it seems like everything in the carnival has been fixed up from its previously rundown state. Fresh coats of paint gleam from every stand and every ride, and there isn't a spot of rust or a broken board anywhere in sight. At the entrance of the carnival hangs a large banner that reads:

Welcome to Mayfield - the Happiest Town on Earth!

Just how long were you exploring the funhouse for, anyway?

And as you start taking in the changes, you may notice one other minor difference: there are no drones to be found anywhere. It seems like the only other living beings in this place are your fellow townspeople who also entered the funhouse...well, that and the large, vicious looking rats that scurry around from place to place. But don't worry, there aren't that many of them and they only come out at night! So go ahead and enjoy having the carnival all to yourselves; after all, with all those minor safety issues fixed up, what could possibly go wrong?

The back exit of the carnival leads to a small street with four standard Mayfield houses and its church at the end. Attempting to leave the carnival via the entrance (although we can't imagine why you would) will only wind up looping you to the end of this street. Where the rest of Mayfield has gone, well...who can say?]

OOC and extra information about this town can be found here - please read it before you start tagging! Remember, only those in the first group should be in this post!

(Kreutzer's taken it upon herself to ride the Ferris Wheel to the top, having one of her dolls pull the lever while she surveys the area...she wasn't expecting this place to look so...isolated. Also, she's standing on top of her booth instead of sitting in it, so yeah, how's that for an attention grabber?)

So this is truly closed off from the rest of Mayfield...why does this place exist?

[What a coincidence! That's the way Marvelous does things too! Riding on top of things beats in them any day of the week.]'re here too?

[personal profile] suicidoll 2012-06-29 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
(Absolutely. Standing on them adds extra cool points!)

I am. It's certainly interesting, isn't it? If Mayfield is a prison, then perhaps this place could be thought of as solitary confinement.
sumofallreds: (back please)

[personal profile] sumofallreds 2012-06-29 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I've heard of pocket dimension prisons before. Not exactly what I pictured though.

[He's heard rumors of the Makuu Prison space after all.]

Then perhaps that's exactly what this is. It's a touch too...colorful to be a standard prison, but I wouldn't put it past Mayfield to employ mind games.

(She folds her arms, staring out into the blank area that lied just at the edge of town.)

It won't take long for the situation to worsen.
sumofallreds: (Bird...information)

[personal profile] sumofallreds 2012-06-29 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Its probably already worse than we think. Look at this water I found.

[He tosses her a glass bottle, full of the murky junk.]

(She catches the bottle, looking it over with noticeable disdain.)

Looks like working on water filters will become a priority. One can be easily put together with a few bottles and the materials here. Afterwards, it's a simple case of boiling it to ensure its safety. Still...having to resort to such methods isn't good.

True enough. Unless they've spiked it somehow.

[He'd rather drink anything else to be honest.]

That's a concern I certainly can't deny...still, I suppose we'll all figure that out once someone drinks from it.

(Someone else, of course. No way in hell she's drinking it as is.)

Someone else can volunteer as far as I'm concerned. I'd rather go thirsty than drink this sludge.

[He says what both of them are thinking ^_^]

Then perhaps we can find someone who'll be willing to sample it? Or simply just distrust it until cleaned.

I'm all for the second. I don't feel like shanghaiing someone to be a guinea pig.

[personal profile] suicidoll 2012-07-08 03:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Well then, here's hoping someone will be brave, or stupid, enough to drink it.

(And she'll just pass back that container now.)
genkibot: (Hurray!)

Hi Miss Kreutzer! What are you doing up there? Are you looking for something?
suicidoll: (Default)

[personal profile] suicidoll 2012-06-30 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
Tachi? You're here, too?

(Well damn, that's a hell of a least it's a good one.)

I'm surveying the surrounding area. It looks to be completely isolated from the Mayfield we know.
genkibot: (...I can't access the internet?)

[personal profile] genkibot 2012-06-30 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
It does seem that way, doesn't it? I can't even access the wlan that Mayfield has, so either we're out of range or this is somewhere separate from it! Do you think we'll find any information about the town, here, though? If it's separate, it might not have anything to do with Mayfield.

[personal profile] suicidoll 2012-06-30 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Perhaps. It's too early to say anything official, but I think we'll find something important here.

(She gives the area another look around, then signals one of her dolls to pull the lever and spin the Ferris Wheel so she can safely jump off once it's close.)

Tachi? I'll need your assistance with something. The water here is terribly polluted and unsafe to drink, but I believe there are enough resources here to put together filters and purifiers. Will you help me?
genkibot: (Things are real!)

[personal profile] genkibot 2012-06-30 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh no! That's not good, biological creatures usually need water to survive! I'll help anyway I can!

[personal profile] suicidoll 2012-07-01 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you, Tachikoma. I'm sure we'll be able to resolve this with our combined efforts.
genkibot: (Tachikoma here!)

[personal profile] genkibot 2012-07-04 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
I sure hope so! If people are stuck here too long without safe drinking water, it could be serious!

[personal profile] suicidoll 2012-07-06 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
They may only last about half a week to a week without it...but if we can make a difference, then we have to do it. There should be enough clothing and fabric-based items to put together a decent filter, right?
genkibot: (Checkmate!!)

[personal profile] genkibot 2012-07-09 07:47 am (UTC)(link)
I think so, but what would be really helpful is if we could find some charcoal! That's a great way to remove various types of bacteria!
suicidoll: (Default)

[personal profile] suicidoll 2012-07-09 03:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I doubt we'll be that fortunate, but if we are, then it will work wonders. I can start a few fires without such if needed, but we'll just worry about what we can find and how we can utilize it.
genkibot: (Hurray!)

[personal profile] genkibot 2012-07-16 06:17 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe we can check the food stand! The grill might use charcoal, or there might be a first aid kit inside!
suicidoll: (Default)

[personal profile] suicidoll 2012-07-19 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
That's an excellent idea! Let us investigate the food stand.

(And she'll already start heading over there, gesturing for the spider bot to follow.)
