[Those who wake up in the town on the third day will soon notice that something's definitely off. The cracks in the sky are appearing more frequently and lasting for minutes at a time, and there's a strange white fog drifting over the clouds.

For those who've just arrived, welcome to our new little town! We're sure you're glad to see your missing friends again; nothing to worry about here, they've just been too busy enjoying the upgraded carnival to go back home. Any bleeding limbs or serious wounds you may spot are obviously just a sign of how much fun they've been having.]

I wouldn't say no to anything right now, especially water, but I thought that was all undrinkable here.

I thought to bring supplies with me. Water was pretty high on my list. And I know a trick to make clean water, there should be some waiting for me in a hole outside. You learn a few survival skills in the military.

[She pulls out peanut butter sandwich and a canteen from her pack, then holds it out to him.]

Hoping for groundwater? It might be just as tainted as the rest, if they share the same source.

[Unless the dirt does something. He can't recall if they went over the grittier details of survival back at the academy or not. Or if he even paid it any attention!]

Ah... [Welp, two things being held out to him. He stares at them for a moment, forcing his hidden arm to stay still and under the coat where it is so he won't do something stupid and reach for one of those without a hand.

The moment passes. He'll take one, then the other, one at a time, rather than reaching out for both at once.] Thank you, Major General.

No, not ground water, it's a way make water through the process of evaporation. I know someone who is a healer though, so I'll just ration my water if that water seems to have something wrong with it. As of now, I have plenty of it to keep me alive.

And don't worry about it. You happened to convince me not to destroy my uniforms. That's enough to deserve repayment.

So you didn't burn them after all. I'd wondered about that.

You dig a hole, and put a tray of sorts in there. Then put a tarp over it and secure the tarp and put a rock on the tarp over the tray. It would be like drinking the dew off of plants.

I suppose it might be like drinking the ground water, but there is a chance it's safer.

That's not going to be a whole lot of water. [Though for one person, maybe.] Guess you'll find out in the morning...

I can fall asleep anywhere, even if I am uncomfortable. It's sort of a talent of mine.

Not unless you have a spare hand... Barring that, just checking to see if I'm still breathing over here every now and then is appreciated.

Not exactly. I never had a chance to pick one up. The entire prize shelf flickered out of sight for a second when I reached for one, along with... well, I'm sure you can guess what didn't come back with the rest of it.

That must be something similar to those rifts that keep appearing in the sky then.

You saw those? Huh. I thought Balin was just seeing things when he mentioned that the other day.

When I first got here I saw one, but there are more today.
