welcome to mayfield: day 3

[Those who wake up in the town on the third day will soon notice that something's definitely off. The cracks in the sky are appearing more frequently and lasting for minutes at a time, and there's a strange white fog drifting over the clouds.
For those who've just arrived, welcome to our new little town! We're sure you're glad to see your missing friends again; nothing to worry about here, they've just been too busy enjoying the upgraded carnival to go back home. Any bleeding limbs or serious wounds you may spot are obviously just a sign of how much fun they've been having.]
OOC: If your character damages or affects the carnival or town in a noticeable and normally permanent way, please comment here.

[no, not really. he's just playing with her. he'll take all the distractions he can get right now, and it just so happens that she's at the top of his list. a familiar face can do wonders.]
When did you get here?
no subject
[Very flat. Very deadpan.]
Three days ago. Things were a bit more pristine then... but not by much.
no subject
[lesson learned: do not trust acquaintances who may/may not be remorseless killers to bail you out of trouble, otherwise stuff like this goes down.]
Yeah, about that... [his eyes wander up to the sky where a new crack has just appeared.] What would you say it is now?
no subject
[She eyes him a little more closely. Aaah, he looks like crap. So yes, he has probably been here a while...]
Pfft, a tank, right, of course... You'll have to settle for some supernatural powers and a big stick.
...oh?
[Natalie follows his gaze upwards, eyes wide. A crack in the sky... this was the first that she had actually caught one.]
I have no idea.
no subject
...If those powers involve blowing the heck out of everything and anything that even remotely looks like it has an extra arm, I'll take what I get. But I'm sure you could always poke the monsters to death, too.
[it's amazing, really. he's never seen anything like it before; the closest thing he can think of is when the sky opened up as the Lorax left. after a couple of minutes, he tears his gaze away and shakes his head.]
Whatever it is, it can't be good.
no subject
[No need to sugarcoat it. No desire to, either. She lazily taps the section of floorboard against her leg, still staring skywards.]
No, alas, I don't specialize in explosions and blowing things up. But I'll do my best. And of course it's not good. Things like that rarely are.
Kyuss would be having a field day with this....
no subject
[nothing personal, Natalie. he does the same, veering off to the side so he can sit on the church steps.]
Like I said, I'll take anything right now. Even if you could turn the monsters into bunnies it'd still be good enough for me.
[he frowns as he watches her.]
Who?
no subject
[She comes a little closer. A little. The steps are still part of the no-go zone.]
I can beat the shit out of them. Hopefully that'll be good enough.
...ah. Someone from home. Curious little bugger. Liked staring at strange things, hoping he'd get some kind of enlightenment from it...
no subject
Ohhh, my hero. [he drapes his absurdly long body over the stairs, swooning theatrically with arm draped over his face.] She bakes, she kicks monster butt, she keeps up with lil' old me... Is there anything she can't do?
[- and then he's scrambling back up like a spider. dude should get a job as a contortionist.]
He's not too far off. You can learn a lot from the weird. Uh, the supernatural, I guess, if we want to be proper here.
no subject
[Oh, such a production he's making of it... she lazily prods at him with her plank, possibly giving him further encouragement to scoot up the steps.]
I can't go in there. Supernatural things, and all.
no subject
[he gives her a pouty little huff and edges up another step, then another.]
Must've slipped my mind. That's what you get for waiting all this time to let that little detail slip.
no subject
[She grins wide enough to momentarily show off her fangs. And then they're hidden again behind a closed-mouth, press-lipped smile.]
One that I'm not used to spreading around.
