[Those who wake up in the town on the third day will soon notice that something's definitely off. The cracks in the sky are appearing more frequently and lasting for minutes at a time, and there's a strange white fog drifting over the clouds.

For those who've just arrived, welcome to our new little town! We're sure you're glad to see your missing friends again; nothing to worry about here, they've just been too busy enjoying the upgraded carnival to go back home. Any bleeding limbs or serious wounds you may spot are obviously just a sign of how much fun they've been having.]

OOC: If your character damages or affects the carnival or town in a noticeable and normally permanent way, please comment here.

[Things are going bad quickly. Esther is starting to think answers might be a lofty dream in light of it. Have a very troubled nun sitting down and thinking things over?]

[Abel has been watching the look of a troubled soul settling with more hold over Esther for a while, now... and while things are quiet, maybe -- there's something he can do.

so, he strays from his position watchdogging the door for now, and eases to sit beside her with a small little smile, tilting his head a bit to draw her gaze.]

Now that's a very serious face, Esther... You're realizing carnations are definitely a better choice than winter roses, aren't you? Don't be sad! It's okay to admit I'm right. Really! Aloud. Go right head!

[Esther doesn't realize he's settled next to her at first. That derp voice could pull her out of just about anything including her own troubled thoughts. She straightens up and prepares to say something until it sinks in just what he said. Then she begins the usual song and dance.]

Winter roses are still better.

[he huffs, looking petulant for a grand total of five seconds before it fades into a chuckle. he can't really hide the fact he's concerned from his eyes.]

Winter roses are very pretty. I guess you have a point...

Of course I have a point! [That concern doesn't escape her. Where it's directed, however, does. Esther approaches it cautiously.]

Father? Is everything alright?

[he nudges at his glasses thoughtfully, before pulling his knees half-way to his chest. his eyes behind those lenses drift toward the church.]

That's just what I was thinking of asking you, actually...

[Her? Moping around sadly in church is practically a tradition! Esther looks appropriately thoughtful at that. What can she really say? She's got about a million thoughts going through her head right now.]

I feel fine. [Physically. She brought a bit of supplies with her she hasn't really needed to tap into. It's only been a day.]

'But?'

[he knows there's a 'but' here. he shifts a little, slinging his arms over his knees and giving her his full attention. sadly, there's no wiggling out of this one... once he gets something into his head, he's rather stubborn about it, huh.]

[He can! :| She knows better than to push aside the real issues for long.]

... We're trapped here with no real answers. I hoped we would get a real exit to that town and all we have is this. I think... I worry that we...

I don't like our odds now. So many of the group have suffered and died already.

his look softens into something sympathetic and apologetic. he wishes he knew how to fix this - believe him... he does... he hates to see her and his brother, and all of those trapped here to be put in such a dangerous and terrible position.]

We're going to make it through this.

[to his credit, he sounds confident and resolute. there's something firm behind it.]

No matter what... I won't let anything happen to you. Or to Cain. I won't let anything happen to any of you if I can help it. [not everyone would come here to the church, and -- it seemed that wandering the Carnival was dangerous at best. yet, some would still chance it, and... because of that...]

We'll have to try and rally more people to come here where it seems safe, Esther. It might not seem like much, but... even if it's all we can do, it's something.

[Esther nods in agreement. That's something tangible. She can work with that.]

Would you like to go now?

[he gives her a nod with a little smile behind it. even if it seemed small... the small things could be important, right?]

[Esther stands up and smiles. He always knows what to say to get her to believe again. ;;] Thank you, partner.

I'm getting really hungry, so -- it won't hurt if we make this a 'look for edible food' run while we're at it right~?

[He ruined it. She's going to pull out a small bag of nuts out of her bag.]

--ah! [he blinks in surprise; did she have food on her...? he takes the bag curiously, before peering back at her.]

Are you stowing stuff away?

Not exactly. Miss Ciel told me if I was going into the fun house again I should bring food, water, and a first aid kit with me so I did. It's not much, but I haven't needed to tap into the food yet.

[Seriously it's just been like a day. No one here should be starving to death.]

[ooh. so, Esther and Ciel are teaming up to be the duo of usefulness... the question is -- can it counteract the level of fail from the rest of them?!]E-Esther, always one step ahead of the game~! I should have guessed...

You and the Sister are both really capable, and -- I'm sure she'd say the same thing! Having dependable people around here is definitely something anyone with a head on their shoulders can appreciate.
