[Day two of whatever this place is dawns bright and cheerful. Not much seems to have changed; the carnival is still standing, the town still empty of drones, the sky still bright blue and --

-- hang on, what was that? Did some sort of crack just appear in that patch of sky?

...oh, it's gone now. Must have just been your imagination. Anyway, there's no time to waste staring aimlessly at the sky, not when there's more friends showing up! Lucky there's more than enough food to go around, eh?]

Yeah, getting under cover would be good.

[ Ilsa carefully gets up, and offers her hand to Hol. ]

Don't worry, it's easier to heal this way. Just need to rest a while, and I'll be okay to take a watch later tonight.

[ If it weren't for the fresh blood, it looks like both she and Hol were in a fight a day or two ago. ]

Who... who're you talking to?

[He was... very wary at this point. He had a good enough reason.]

[She directs her gaze and her voice in Hol's direction, softening it somewhat. He has plenty of reason to be wary.]

My name is Natalie. I'm a friend of Ilsa's.

[And then her head turns, directing her words back at Ilsa.]

..you're not taking a watch. There's no need for you to take a watch. I'll be up all night.. and then, hopefully, I'll be left alone to sleep it off during the day.

[ Ilsa is tired enough to capitulate, and sounds like it when she responds. ]

Okay, this time.

[ Yes, there will probably be a next time. ]

I haven't seen the rats, yet. Is there a place secure from them?

They're bigger then normal rats...

[That's all he had to say on the issue.]

Much bigger. Not that much meaner, though.

[And... where to go? She hesitates, before offering her suggestion.]

The church. The rats seem to avoid the church. There's a... woman there. Powerful. It would be safe.

[ Supporting and/or leaning on Hol, Ilsa risks a look at Natalie. ]

Let's go, then.

[ Not going to mention it in front of Hol, that would be rude. ]

[Mention? Mention what? Oh, right... he knows nothing!]

[Natalie reaches out to support Ilsa, as well. Her touch is... uncomfortable. It might well startle the man who wouldn't be expecting it.]

...blue hair. Holy powers. If she has a name, I've forgotten it.

Ah, the dangerous nun, good. If we had to have one of the clerics here, that would be the best choice.

[ Ilsa is not accustomed to Natalie's touch, but it's not as much of a shock to her as it would be to others. ]

[Natalie snorts. And you can almost hear the eye-rolling.]

She's only dangerous if you're EVIL. You're not evil, are you, sir?

Chill, Hol. She's a protector.

[ She's not sure how reassuring a side-hug would be for him right now, but it's accompanied by a feeling of reassurance. ]

We'll be fine.

[He eventually starts moving again...]

... then why did you mention she was dangerous...?

[Yup, there we go, moving right along...]

I've seen her fight once. I think she might be an exorcist in her world.

[ Moving the party along, even at the speed they're moving, it doesn't take them long to get out of the carnival and within line-of-sight to the church. ]

Long as you don't break the rules of sanctuary, you ought to be okay.

[ Ilsa's still worried about Natalie. ]

... and that makes an exorcist... evil?

[He's not so sure about heading to the church now... but he doesn't have much of a choice.]

An exorcist. A hunter of evil. I'm sure she has a lot of skills....

[Ones that Natalie does not sound entirely enthused about. Thank goodness that it's not a long walk to the church...

Though when they're at the front steps, Natalie breaks away, grimacing slightly.]

And this is as far as I go.

[ Ilsa nods. ] Hol, do you want me to go in with you? It's protected ground, it'll be safe.

I'll... I'll be fine.

You two should stay. I've already got a safe spot in one of the basements, when I'm ready to sleep. I suspect we've got a ways to go yet, to wait this out...

I'll be back, I wanted to check one of the houses before I sleep.

[He's not too sure about this course of action, BUT... he didn't want to seem like a complete and total coward. It's a start.]

I wanted to search the one closest to the 501 house, since that one looked like there were enough people crawling all over it.
